Oats Idli. A quick and instant recipe of idli made with oats. This recipe is similar to the way we make Rava idli. apart from oats, I have also used rava or cream of wheat in the batter. On occasions, I do add few veggies in the batter and at times I make the idlis without any veggies.
Rava Idli and this oats idli are a stand by when I do not have stock of idli dosa batter but prefer to eat idli.

Ingredients of Oats Idli

It’s 250 gms of Oats.

You need 100 gms of Semolina.

Prepare 200 ml of Mild sour curd.

Prepare 3 tea spoons of Oil.

You need 1/4 tea spoon of Mustard seeds.

You need 1/4 tea spoon of Chopped green chillies.

Prepare 1 teaspoon of Chana dal / bengal gram.

Prepare as needed of Broken cashews few.

Prepare to taste of Salt.

You need 1/4 teaspoon of Eno fruit salt.
Oats - This is the star ingredient of this Idli recipe.
Opt for instant oats and powder them in your mixer grinder before mixing it with other ingredients.
You can even use rolled oats for this recipe.
Semolina - Along with powdered oats, semolina is also added that enhances the texture of Oats Idli.
Oats Idli instructions

Heat a pan and dry roast oats in low flame till aroma comes. See to it the oats doesnot get brown colour. Transfer it to a bowl. Now dry roast the semolina till it becomes light brown in colour, Allow them to get cool down..

Transfer the roasted stuff to a blender and just give tow or three turns and transfer it to a broad bowl..

Add the curd, water, salt and mix well. Let them get soaked for 15 minutes..

After 15 minutes you can notice that the stuff has become tight. add more water and bring it to idli batter consistency.Heat a sauteing pan and do the seasoning with mustard, chopped chillies, dal and cashews. Add it to the batter..

Heat the idli pan. grease the idli plates. Now add the eno fruit salt stir fast and pour in the batter to the plates. Steam them out for 15 minutes..

Serve hot with chutney, gun powder or sambhar..
