How to Autumn Perfect Tomato Uppitu Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Tomato Uppitu. Tomato Upma (Tomato Uppittu ) is a wholesome healthy south Indian breakfast dish. There are many variations in the preparation of upma. Avarekalu uppittu or avarekalu upma recipe explained with step by step pictures.

Avarekalu is very healthy and is very tasty.

Now avarekalu or field beans season is going on.

Rava Uppittu recipe is one of the frequently prepared breakfast recipes in Karnataka.

You can have Tomato Uppitu using 14 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Tomato Uppitu

  1. It’s 250 gms of Rava Local -.

  2. Prepare 1 of Tomato large cut into small cubes -.

  3. It’s 3 - 5 nos of chilies Green chopped finely -.

  4. You need 15 gms of Ginger chopped finely or grated -.

  5. It’s 1 sprig of Curry leaves -.

  6. You need 1/2 cup of coconut Grated (optional) -.

  7. Prepare 1/2 cup of Corriander leaves chopped finely -.

  8. Prepare 1 tsp of Mustard seeds -.

  9. Prepare 1 tsp of Urad dal Channa dal & -  each ,.

  10. It’s 10 nos of Cashew nuts broken to small peices (optional) -.

  11. It’s 3/4 tsp of Cinnamon powder -.

  12. Prepare 3 nos of Cloves crushed -.

  13. It’s to taste of Salt -.

  14. It’s 4 cups of water -.

Recently I tasted this uppittu in chow chow bath.

This weekend I am planning to share chow chow bath recipe after tasting from some popular hotels in Bangalore.

Before that, I would like to make a separate post for Rava uppittu and Chiroti rava kesari bath in my native place i.e in udupi, tomato upma recipe is a popular breakfast recipe for any festival or auspicious occasions. actually it is popularly served with avalakki upkari which is commonly known as concrete in a sarcastic way. i personally like just the tomato rava upma recipe without any extra side dish too it. for me a cup of masala chai with ghee generously topped on tomato rava bath.

Add chopped tomato, vangibath powder and fry them for few mins until onion and tomato are cooked.

Tomato Uppitu instructions

  1. In the same kadai, over a medium flame, add the oil and when the oil is hot add the mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds splutter, add the channa dal an urad dal, curry leaves and chopped cashew nuts. Stir for a few seconds..

  2. Lower the flame and add the chopped tomatoes. Continue to cook until the tomato bits are soft(couple of min). Keep stirring the mixture..

  3. Now add the grated ginger and chopped green chilies and continue to stir for a few seconds..

  4. On a medium flame,add the water, cinnamon powder, crushed cloves, chopped coriander, salt, turmeric, and grated coconut and bring the water to a boil..

  5. Once the water starts to boil, remove the kadai from the flame. Now add the roasted rava, in a steady stream into the water stirring all the time to avoid the rava forming lumps.. mix well. place the kadai back on a low flame and cook, stirring occasionally until done..

  6. Serve with green chutney and or curds..

Add fried semolina and stir the Uppittu.
