Oats idli. A quick and instant recipe of idli made with oats. This recipe is similar to the way we make Rava idli. apart from oats, I have also used rava or cream of wheat in the batter. On occasions, I do add few veggies in the batter and at times I make the idlis without any veggies.
Rava Idli and this oats idli are a stand by when I do not have stock of idli dosa batter but prefer to eat idli.

Ingredients of Oats idli

Prepare 2 cups of oats.

It’s 3/4 cup of semolina.

You need 1 cup of curd.

It’s as required of Water.

It’s 1 spoon of oil.

You need 1/2 spoon of mustard seeds.

It’s 1 spoon of split white lentil.

Prepare 8-10 of curry leaves.

You need 1 cup of finely chopped veggies (carrot,beans,capsicum).

You need 1/4 cup of boiled peas.

It’s As per taste of Salt.

It’s 1/2 spoon of eno.
Oats - This is the star ingredient of this Idli recipe.
Opt for instant oats and powder them in your mixer grinder before mixing it with other ingredients.
You can even use rolled oats for this recipe.
Semolina - Along with powdered oats, semolina is also added that enhances the texture of Oats Idli.
Oats idli instructions

Dry roast oats in a pan. Take out in a plate and let it cool..

Make a fine powder of roasted oats in grinder and take out in a bowl..

Mix oats powder, semolina, curd and water in a bowl to make a thick batter. Cover and keep aside for 15 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan.add mustard seeds,white lentil and curry leaves..

Let it crackle and pour into the batter.

Mix peas, veggies and salt into the batter. Add little amount of water if required..

Mix eno and pour the batter in a idli mould..

Steam for 10 minutes..

Take out idli on a plate. Serve hot with chutney..
