Recipe: Delicious Oats Idli Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Oats Idli. A quick and instant recipe of idli made with oats. This recipe is similar to the way we make Rava idli. apart from oats, I have also used rava or cream of wheat in the batter. On occasions, I do add few veggies in the batter and at times I make the idlis without any veggies.

Rava Idli and this oats idli are a stand by when I do not have stock of idli dosa batter but prefer to eat idli.

Ingredients of Oats Idli

  1. Prepare 1 bowl of roasted oats.

  2. It’s 3/4 bowl of roasted sooji.

  3. It’s 1 bowl of curd.

  4. It’s 1 tbsp of oil.

  5. It’s to taste of Salt.

  6. It’s 1 tsp of chilly ginger paste.

  7. Prepare 1 tbsp of coriander chopped.

  8. Prepare 1 tsp of mustard seeds.

  9. Prepare 12-15 of curry leaves.

  10. Prepare 1/2 tsp of udad Dal.

  11. You need of Water as required.

  12. It’s 1/4 tsp of soda.

  13. It’s 1 tsp of black pepper.

Oats - This is the star ingredient of this Idli recipe.

Opt for instant oats and powder them in your mixer grinder before mixing it with other ingredients.

You can even use rolled oats for this recipe.

Semolina - Along with powdered oats, semolina is also added that enhances the texture of Oats Idli.

Oats Idli instructions

  1. Crush the roasted oats and make powder.

  2. Take the crushed oats in a bowl and add sooji,curd, salt, chilly ginger paste, coriander and mix it well.

  3. Add required amount of water.

  4. Keep the batter little bit thick.

  5. Let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes rest.

  6. Now add soda and mix it well.

  7. Now pour the batter in the Idli stand and steam it for 10 to 15 minutes.

  8. Now when it comes at room temperature unmould it.

  9. Now take some oil in a pan.

  10. When it is slightly hot add curry leaves, mustard seeds,udad Dal in it.

  11. Now pour it on the idlis.

  12. And garnish it with black pepper.
