Ingredients of Choco Dhokla

It’s of For Dhoklas: Gram flour 200 grams.

You need 50 grams of cocoa powder.

It’s 100 grams of powdered sugar.

It’s 2 tablespoon of oil.

It’s 2 teaspoon of baking powder.

It’s 1 teaspoon of baking soda.

Prepare of salt as per taste.

You need 150 grams of sour curd.

It’s 1 1/2 teaspoon of vinegar.

It’s 1 teaspoon of chilli powder.

It’s of For Tadka:.

It’s 1/2 teaspoon of Asafoetida.

Prepare 1/2 teaspoon of Mustard.

You need 1/2 teaspoon of lemon juice.

Prepare of Curry leaves chopped 8-10.

It’s 1/2 cup of Water.

You need 2 of green chillis whole.

You need 1/2 teaspoon of sugar.

Prepare 1 teaspoon of white sesame seeds.

It’s 2 tablespoon of oil.
Heat sesame oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, sesame seeds and let it splutter.
Add red chilli powder, lemon juice, coriander leaves and dhokla toss it well.
In a bowl, add the crumbed sides of dhokla , sesame seeds, thadka, lemon juice, coriander leaves, mix everything well.
Besan Dhokla is very tasty to eat, very less oil is used while preparing it as it cooks in steam.
Choco Dhokla step by step

In a mixing bowl, take half (100 gms) grams gram flour.

Add red chilli powder, salt to taste.

Whisk 100 grams curd with 2 tablespoon warm water.

Add the whisked curd and 1 tablespoon oil to the flour batter and combine well and rest aside for 30 minutes.

In another mixing bowl, combine the remaining gram flour, cocoa powder.

Add 100 grams powdered sugar and mix well by adding warm water and 1 tablespoon oil to make a thick batter(warm water will help melt the sugar).

Add the remaining curd bit by bit and fold in well. don’t over mix.

Let the batter rest for 30 minutes.

After resting, add 1 tsn vinegar, 1 tsn baking powder and 1/2 tsn baking soda to each batter and mix well.

Pour 500 mili litre water in a wok/ heavy bottomed container and bring it to boil covered.

Grease a baking dish/container with 1 tablespoon oil.

Pour in the normal dhokla batter first and tap the container to spread across the batter well.

Pour in the Choco dhokla batter on it and gently layer it.

Reduce the heat to Low and place the dhokla dish inside the wok and steam covered for 20 minutes/till done.

Take off heat after done and let cool slightly.

For the tadka, combine all the ingredients listed under “ for tadka” on high heat for 1-2 minutes in a tadka pan.

Take off heat and pour the tadka over the dhokla.

Cut into pieces and serve.
