Upma has always been my favorite, be it rava upma or semiya upma or upma kozhukattai or any upma for that matter.

Now-a-days oats is gaining popularity as a breakfast dish mainly because of its health benefits and also it can be cooked in a jiffy.

You can have Oats Semolina Upma using 19 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you achieve that.

Ingredients of Oats Semolina Upma

  1. Prepare 1/2 Cup of Oats.

  2. You need 2 1/2 Cup of water.

  3. Prepare 2 Tbsp of peas.

  4. You need 1 medium sized of chopped carrot.

  5. Prepare 1 Tbsp of ghee.

  6. You need 1 tsp of mustard seeds.

  7. Prepare 1 Tbsp of white split Urad dal.

  8. It’s 8-10 of Curry leaves.

  9. You need 2 of green chillies,roughly chopped.

  10. It’s Pinch of asafoetida.

  11. Prepare 1 Tbsp of chopped cashew nuts.

  12. It’s 1 of chopped onion.

  13. It’s 1/2 cup of semolina.

  14. Prepare 2 Tbsp of whisked curd.

  15. You need as per taste of Salt.

  16. It’s 1 tsp of sugar.

  17. Prepare 1/2 tsp of lemon juice.

  18. Prepare 1/2 cup of fresh grated coconut optional.

  19. You need As required of chopped coriander leaves.

Oats upma is a healthy and delicious dish prepared with oats and mixed vegetables.

Oats upma can be served plain, drizzled with some lime or lemon juice or also served with a side of coconut chutney.

Oats upma also makes for a healthy tiffin box snack.

Heat ½ tsp oil in a shallow frying pan.

Oats Semolina Upma instructions

  1. Take oats in a pan and dry roast them until light brown and keep it aside..

  2. Take 2 and a half cups of water and boil it. Once the water is boiled, add peas and chopped carrots. Now let the water boil till the vegetables are cooked..

  3. Next, take 1 tbsp of ghee in a pan, and once the ghee is hot add mustard seeds. Once seeds are crackled then add urad dal. When urad dal turns golden browns then add few Curry leaves, Green chilli roughly chopped, asafoetida, chopped cashew nuts. Sauté for a while and then add chopped onion. Sauté again till the onion turns soft..

  4. Now add semolina and roast semolina for few minutes. Then add roasted oats in it and now it’s time to add the boiled water with the vegetables which was prepared in step 2. Keep stirring it till the thick consistency. Now add whisked curd, salt to taste, sugar, lemon juice, fresh grated-coconut which is optional, chopped coriander leaves and mix it properly. You can choose the upma consistency as per your choice. I kept it little thick but not too much dry..
