Recipe: Tasty Dawn's Meatball Sub Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Dawn's Meatball Sub. Meatball Subs I've followed Lidia Bastianich for a long long time now. And thank you PBS for bringing her to us, along with a lot of great programming. For meatball subs I follow her recipe below, minus the pasta.

I did a lot of research on a good meatball recipe.

This is the one I came up with.

We… Making the meatballs with turkey you don't have to brown the meatballs first, just put them in the crock pot with the sauce and they cook up moist and tender.

You can cook Dawn's Meatball Sub using 9 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Dawn's Meatball Sub

  1. Prepare 2 lb of Ground beef, but I use ground round..

  2. Prepare 1 1/2 cup of Italian bread crumbs, might need a little more.

  3. It’s 1 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.

  4. Prepare 1 of Jumbo egg.

  5. It’s 1/3 of Milk, also you might need more.

  6. It’s 2 1/2 tbsp of Weber's Roastes Garlic &Herb seasoning.

  7. It’s 1 jar of of your favorite spaghetti sauce.

  8. Prepare 1 packages of Pepperidge Farm whole wheat hoagie rolls.

  9. It’s 2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese.

Make sure you use fresh mozzarella, it makes for a creamy center.

First night we had meatballs with spaghetti and then with the leftovers we made meatball subs.

Dawn's Meatball Sub step by step

  1. Mix and mash first 6 ingredients together..

  2. Shape into 1inch balls..

  3. Brown in a pan on medium high heat til lighty brown. Dont worry about cooking all the way through..

  4. When all are done, add them to a large sauce pot and cover with you spaghetti sauce..

  5. Cook on medium heat til starts to boil. Then turn down and simmer for 2 1/2hrs or when meatballs are cooked all the way through, cooking time can vary with each stove. Keep stirred, but be careful not to break meatballs apart..

  6. When done, place about 3 or 4 meatballs in hoagie roll, top with mozzarella cheese. Place under broiler for a few sec to melt cheese. Be careful and watch closely so it doesnt burn..

  7. When done, let set for a few minutes to cool. Eat and enjoy.
