Samp is traditionally eaten in South African cuisine and consists of coarsely ground maize kernels.

Samp and beans is one of the most popular ways to use it and makes for a warm, hearty dish.

Ingredients of Tasty samp

  1. It’s of samp.

  2. Prepare of onion, chopped.

  3. Prepare of green pepper, chopped.

  4. It’s of red pepper, chopped.

  5. It’s of yellow pepper, chopped.

  6. You need of ground turmeric.

  7. Prepare of cream of mushroom powdered soup.

  8. You need of six gun grill spice.

  9. Prepare of olive oil.

  10. It’s of aromat.

  11. You need of margarine.

You can also cook samp with crunchy peanut butter and enjoy this tasty dish for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

After the soaking period, discard water used for soaking and put the samp in a pot.

Tasty samp step by step

  1. Rinse and boil samp till soft.

  2. In a pan using olive oil fry onion,green,red and yellow pepper(finely chopped)add six gun grill spice then switch off the stove.

  3. When the samp is soft make sure theres no water remaining then add margarine,turmeric and aromat then add the fried onion and peppers and stir.

  4. Continue stirring then add cream of mushroom powdered soup.

  5. Serve with boiled vegetables and grilled beef meat.

Add enough water to just about cover the samp and add some salt.

Place the soaked samp in a large pot and add enough chicken stock to cover.

This is a traditional South African Samp (mngqusho) and Beans (mbotyi) recipe.
