Recipe: Appetizing Rhubarb, apple and berry crumble Delicious, fresh and tasty.

Rhubarb, apple and berry crumble. It's been a really cold start to winter here in the 'Berra. Sit on the couch with socks on kind of weather. Crack open a bottle of red between just two people kind of weather.

Add in sugar and oats and mix together.

Stew apples/rhubarb if making apple/rhubarb crumble.

To Stew Apples/Rhubarb Peel, core and roughly chop apples.

You can cook Rhubarb, apple and berry crumble using 9 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Rhubarb, apple and berry crumble

  1. It’s 100 g of plain flour.

  2. You need 50 g of butter.

  3. It’s 3 of table spoons of sugar (for crumble).

  4. You need 4 sticks of rhubarb.

  5. It’s 2 of cooking apples.

  6. It’s of Frozen mixed berries.

  7. Prepare 4 tablespoons of water.

  8. You need 3 tablespoons of lemon juice.

  9. You need 6 of table spoons of sugar (2 per stewing batch).

For the crumble; gently rub the butter and plain flour together until a sandy/crumbly texture is formed.

Place the rhubarb, strawberries, blueberries, and apples in a large bowl and stir gently to combine.

Add ¼ cup of the brown sugar, cornstarch, and ¼ teaspoon of the cinnamon and stir gently until the fruit is evenly coated.

Our all time favourite is apple crumble, but I do like to experiment with other fruits.

Rhubarb, apple and berry crumble instructions

  1. Chop the rhubarb and place in a large saucepan. Add two tablespoons of water, one tablespoon of lemon juice and two tablespoons of sugar. Stew on a low temperature for 10 minutes with the lid on stirring occasionally..

  2. Repeat the process with the apples and berries. If using frozen fruit, don’t add the water as they will produce their own. Add all of the fruit to a large oven proof dish..

  3. Rub the flour, butter and sugar together to make a crumble. Layer over the top of the fruit..

  4. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 160 degrees.

  5. And serve with custard..

A combination I found works really well is an apple & banana crumble.

This time though, it was a time for rhubarb.

A fantastic crumble which disappeared in few seconds!
