  6. Prepare 1 tsp of mustard seed.

  7. Prepare 3 tbsp of chilli powder.

  10. Prepare 1/2 tsp of fenugreek powder.

  11. You need 3 tbsp of coconut oil.

Tamarind is added for the sourness.

Tomato paste added to the curry makes the gravy very thick and the coconut oil and fenugreek seeds imparts a very authentic flavour to the curry.

  1. Make a paste of coriander, chilli, fenugreek, turmeric powders and keep aside.

  2. Keep the mud pot(meen chatti) on stove and heat oil.

  3. Splutter mustard seeds.

  4. Add sliced shallots, ginger, garlic, green chilli and saute it for few minutes.

  5. Add the paste made in step 1 and mix well.

  6. Add kudampuli and mix well.

  7. Now add 2 cups of water and salt.

  8. Once it starts boiling add the fish pieces.

  9. Wait until it boils again in light flame and when oil starts separating, turn off stove.

  10. Garnish with curry leaves.
