How to Make Basmati Rice Halwa.

In a thick pan boil the milk with water.

You can have Rice Halwa using 8 ingredients and 6 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Rice Halwa

  1. It’s 1 bowl of Rice.

  2. You need 1/2 bowl of Sugar.

  3. It’s 3 bowl of Coconut milk.

  4. It’s 2 tsp of Pure ghee.

  5. You need 10 of Pistachio.

  6. It’s 10 of Almonds.

  7. It’s 4 of Walnuts.

  8. Prepare as needed of Water.

When boiling starts, add the rice and cook it completely by reducing the stove to a low heat.

Stir the rice for two minutes initially, to avoid burning in the bottom of the pan.

Kavuni Arisi Halwa or Black Rice Halwa is a traditional halwa recipe prepared by constant stirring of black rice paste in coconut milk and made richer by adding ghee.

This is also called as dhol dhol or dodol in Anglo Indian cuisine, which is prepared for Christmas.  Black Rice or Kavuni Arisi is cultivated in northeastern and southern parts in India.

Rice Halwa instructions

  1. Wash and Soak 1 bowl of rice in 1 bowl of coconut milk for half an hour..

  2. Now coarsely grind the rice in a mixer..

  3. In a karahi add 2 tb spoon pure ghee and add this grinded rice and roast on slow flame for 1 5 minutes or till aroma comes..

  4. Add sugar and remaining 2 bowls of coconut milk and stir continuously till mixture gets thick..

  5. Garnish with chopped almonds. pistachio and walnuts..

  6. Serve hot..

Kavuni arisi halwa/ Black rice halwa is a delicious and flavorful halwa originating from chettinadu cuisine.

Black rice halwa as the name goes it is made with black rice called kavuni arisi in tamil and coconut milk.

Yes you heard that right, this particular ingredient adds more taste to the unique flavors of black rice.
